Commuter
Choices Week
Commuter Choices Week (CCW) is an
annual event BACS organizes in association with other
transportation agencies. It's a public outreach program
which emphasizes reducing congestion, improving air
quality and lowering fuel consumption by using commuting
options to the single occupant vehicle (SOV). Employers,
employees and the general public are targeted, and public
officials are also educated to the benefits of transportation
demand management (TDM). The message comes through media
advertising including billboards, newspaper, radio and
television.
Activities include placing commitment
cards at area locations, as well as distributing commitment
cards through area employers. Those pledging to use
a commute option during the designated week are entered
into a drawing for several prizes. Area employers who
participate in CCW are also recognized via plaques,
certificates and newspaper ads.
In celebration of CCW, various events
are held in the Bay area highlighting the use of commute
options. Food, fun and frolic are the order of the day
and all who participate have a great time!
